Built at the end of the garden to a wonderful detached family home in Worcester Park is our one-off design. Measuring an impressive 7.5m wide and 4.6m deep, the end result is a substantial room that’ll create any number of uses for the family.

Our customer wanted to create a social and relaxing space with the option of also having a large enough decking area at the front of the garden room. Internally the requirement was a calm space that also came with convenience.

The design of this garden room creates a larger and wider space, also giving the room more depth and space internally. A large set of doors on the right creates a large glazed entrance with a window on the left-hand side. The side and rear elevations come fully cladded with a window fitted to the right-hand side.

Exterior Design

To the outside is our composite cladding material supplied in the popular grey colour. Our cladding creates a modern look with a tactile feel. As well as this, it’s built to withstand the British weather, won’t fade, warp or splinter like wood. And of course, it’s virtually maintenance-free.

This particular colour is the ultra-modern Flint colour within our range. The doors and windows come in a contrasting matt grey finish. Internally is a dark grey floor.

To the outside we’ve also provided our composite decking material with outside lighting to the canopy area in front of the doors.

The Doors and Windows

For the doors, we’ve created a four panel set of bifolding doors using a slimline premium aluminium system. For even better functionality, the doors operate as familiar French doors with a master leaf on the left, viewed from the outside. As a result, getting in an out of the garden room is easy.

It’s in the spring and summer these doors come into their own. They’ll fully fold back neatly, opening up the garden room and connecting it seamlessly to the garden. Perfect!

Bringing even more light into the garden room are the slimline aluminium windows at the front and side elevation. These come designed as a taller window unit with a large fixed bottom glazed panel. Above is an outward opening casement for ventilation and airflow.

Also fitted to each window is a trickle ventilator at the head. The benefit of trickle ventilators is continued airflow into the space, freshening the air and preventing the build-up of excess moisture that’s created in any habitable area.

All doors and windows in this bespoke garden room in Surrey come with high-end handles with the latest multi-point locking systems. The doors come fitted with high security cylinders too. We provide the latest glazing throughout, 28mm units having a soft-coat low-emissivity coating, warm edge spacer bars and argon gas fill. The doors come with safety glass and also to the lower pane of the windows.

The windows and doors also feature the latest in thermally insulated aluminium with a durable matt powder-coated finish.

Interior Design and Use

Somewhat different to a conventional pod is the installation of a small contemporary kitchenette in the far corner. Given the substantial size of the property and it’s garden, the family has the facility to make a drink or prepare a light meal without having to walk back up to the main house.

The rest of the space is now decorated in gorgeous dark colours with contrasting shades creating a wonderful atmosphere and with a clever choice of colour to the kitchenette, flooring and the accessories.
