Steel look patio doors in Wandsworth

Grey Steel look patio doors in Wandsworth to a garden extension.

This beautiful new extension in the garden of this London home is built to match the main house using the same kind of brickwork.  We supplied one set of French doors and two single doors providing a traditional style yet also entirely on-trend.

Our range of steel replacement systems is incredibly popular today in new extensions and house renovation projects. Hinged doors such as these are the most popular style of patio doors, but we can also customise bifolding doors and sliding doors too.

We use only slimline aluminium systems then expertly re-design these to achieve an authentic traditional or industrial look. Unlike other suppliers of these products, we don’t just apply bars to glass! Our work involves making sure you achieve consistent sightlines.  Furthermore, we also source traditional or modern door handles to finish off your new steel look patio doors perfectly.

    Steel-replacement single and double doors.

The steel look patio doors fitted to this Wandsworth house come in our steel replacement system using thermally insulated aluminium profiles, toughened safety glass and a durable powder-coated finish.

These look outstanding in a dark grey, finished off with Pewter door handles. The door glass is toughened with a low-emissivity coating, argon gas between the glass.  We also custom-design our glass, having spacer bars behind the applied aluminium bars on the inside and outside faces.  The doors also come with slimline hinges, multi-point locks and security door cylinder.  Every door set comes with a dummy frame section in the toplight.  As a result, the sightlines of the entire door set are consistent and aesthetically pleasing.

  • Schuco bifold doors and lantern roof

Another installation by Aspire Bifolds of grey Schuco bifold doors, with a contemporary lantern roof above. These products supplied and fitted at the same time to a newly built extension.

    Schuco bifold doors

    Contemporary Schuco bifold doors.

Slimline, German engineered Schuco bifold doors, add style and value to any new extension. Not only are Schuco bifold doors one of the slimmest on the market, but also one of the best designed and executed.

Importantly, Schuco bifolds enhance this new extension with a cutting-edge and very modern looking bifold door.  Firstly the door profiles are flat in appearance, therefore giving a modern aesthetic to the overall look of the doors.  In addition, Schuco doors feature thin sight lines where the closed door panels meet.  Specifically, these doors are just 121mm meaning they are one of the thinnest in our range of aluminium bifolding doors.

As well as the slimline nature of Schuco bifold doors, you also benefit from contemporary door furniture, multi-point locking and sophisticated door gaskets. For example, the main door handle is separate from the cylinder, therefore giving a more modern look compared to the one-piece assembly found in other bifold door systems.  Best of all, the hardware fitted to these doors comes in a contrasting brushed stainless steel finish.  The contrasting hardware further extends to the internal intermediate handles as well as the door hinges.  The result is a bifold door where the handles and hinges really stand out thanks to their sleek lines and great colour.

The benefit of traffic doors on bifolds.

Our Schuco bifold doors also feature functionality. They open out, ensuring they don’t take up space on the inside of the property.  There is also a traffic door fitted.  A traffic door is particularly useful on a bifold door and especially where a bifold is the only door with access to the garden. A traffic door works just like a regular hinged door.  On this particular door, the lead door hinges on the next door leaf.  Therefore, the fully opened doors neatly stack on the right-hand side. The benefit is a large clear door opening.

    Atlas aluminium lantern roof.

Also provided to this new construction is the latest generation, Atlas aluminium lantern roof. As well as the large panels found in the Schuco bifold doors there is additional light from above.

The roof bars of Atlas roofs are one of the slimmest and strongest on the market.  The lantern roof has a blue-tinted toughened glass with self-cleaning properties.

Finally, both the Schuco bifolding doors and the latern room come in a modern grey polyester powder coated finish.

At Aspire Bifolds, the majority of our work is in partnership with homeowners, their builders or their architects.  We often work part-way through a build.  We help ensure the project moves quickly but at the same time ensure our doors close off the construction to help internal trades start work. • Schuco bifolding conservatory doors

An installation of Schuco bifolding conservatory doors supplied and fitted by Aspire Bifolds to an existing conservatory in Fulham, London.

    bifolding conservatory doors

    Aluminium Bifolding Conservatory Doors.

This particular conservatory is more a built glazed extension, having structural beam all round supporting the roof. Therefore fitting new bifolding conservatory doors to an existing glazed extension such as this is quite easy.

The existing glass roof has grey aluminium roof bars. Therefore, providing a colour matching new set of doors is easy. For these doors, the powder coated finish is RAL 7016.

The bifolding door set is the renowned Schuco bifolding door system in a three panel configuration. Viewed from the outside, the doors comprise a traffic door. Traffic doors are a great idea on a set of bifolding doors and especially to smaller houses such as terraced.  For example, if your home only has one main door out to the garden, the traffic door lets you get in and out without folding the remaining panels back. Therefore, for smaller houses such as these, with or without an extension, a bifolding door still makes a lot of sense, when configured correctly.

Fitted to the doors is a black main door handle, black hinges and brushed stainless steel door catch. The doors have toughened safety glass, argon gas between the panes, a low-emissivity coating and warm-edge spacer bars.  This excellent glass specification, combined with the insulated aluminium profiles, creates a thermally efficient folding door.

To each side of the Schuco bifolding conservatory doors is a new window. The windows use our market-leading Aluk system. Each window has thermally insulated window sections, multi-point locking, black locking handles and secure friction stays. The windows open out from the bottom in a top hung style.

Finally, the installation is finished off with a new matching aluminium cill under the doors and the windows.

  • Putney, Industrial-look Screen

A  contemporary industrial-look screen fitted by Aspire Bifolds to a renovated terraced property in Putney, London.

    industrial-look screen

    Aluminium contemporary, industrial-look screen.

The industrial-look screen is a very on-trend product for property renovations.  At Aspire Bifolds, we often work with homeowners wanting to replace one of the doorways in their home with a glass screen.  For these installations, our aluminium steel-look systems provide a great solution.

Shown in this case study is the Smart Systems Heritage 47.  The Smart Systems Alitherm Heritage 47 system is excellent as a steel look screen.  Furthermore, Smarts’ Heritage range also comes as a single or double door and opening windows. If you are interested in these elegant, industrial looking products, also replicating old steel windows and doors, they are ideal.

Black is a very popular colour for an industrial-look screen. On this particular project, our customer chose a contemporary grey.  The window comes in RAL 7016 matt grey finish.

To the window are our slimline glazing bars, therefore giving the desirable multiple panel arrangement.  This large window comprises over 4 square metres of glazing.  The panels come with toughened safety glass, also having a soft-coat low-emissivity coating. Furthermore, the unit edges have warm edge spacer bars and argon gas fill between the glass panels.  So while an internal screen, it remains thermally efficient.

Typical of many terraced houses is a doorway leading to the front room with a further doorway to a back room. Many of our customers choose to change a doorway to one with a fixed glazed screen. As a result they get a new large picture window providing more light than a door. These steel look screens also create a contemporary appearance inside the home.

Our images show just how good this product looks from inside and outside the home.  If you would like a quote to create this impressive industrial-look screen in your home, contact us today.  You can also view this product at our Epsom Showroom.

  • Morden Sliding Doors

Many homeowners appreciate the advantages of a sliding door such as the thinner sight lines and bigger panes of glass.  To this semi-detached property in Morden, we took out the old two panel sliding doors with toplight and replaced them with the latest generation Smart Systems Visofold sliding doors.  Notice how the new thinner doors are stronger, enabling them to span the entire height.

The previous old doors needed a top glazed panel above.  Instantly the installation looks neater, more precise and gives our customer a better, more secure sliding door with much-improved light levels coming into the house.  The views are also better with just two large glass panels. The new installation is much-improved thanks to the direct-fix frame meaning no more maintenance of hardwood subframes.

    • The very latest Smart Systems Visoglide aluminium sliding door.
    • 35mm slimline interlock reduces door slight lines and maximises the view out to the garden.
    • Contemporary Grey RAL 7016 colour.
    • Double glazed with toughened safety glass.
    • Multi point lock and dark modern door handle.
